The exhibition Building the Empire State was mounted in the monumental banking hall at 16 Wall Street, the landmark Bankers Trust Building, an Art Deco design of 1931-1933 by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, the architects of the Empire State. The exhibition was curated by Carol Willis. The installation was designed by architect Lynne Breslin and the graphics were created by Michael Gericke of Pentagram. Support for the exhibition has been provided by The Chase Manhattan Bank, The Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, The J. M. Kaplan Fund, The Samuel and May Rudin Foundation, The Norman and Rosita Winston Foundation, and other friends of the museum. The space was provided by The Chase Manhattan Bank.
